Client

James Whelan - High Powered Condo

About the Client

James Whelan is a busy, busy man. Not only is he an in demand fashion model, but he's a successful entrepreneur as well. Dedicated to his wife and children he lives in a wonderful home in the suburbs, but when he's in the city he needs a place of his own for business. James needs a condo redesigned for entertaining clients, for his clients to stay when they are in town for business, and for himself to stay when he needs to be in the city.  James has money to spend so don't hold back, just be certain to meet his style demands.

Your Assignment

Follow the guidelines of the client briefing above and showcase some spaces that might appeal to James for his new condo. Remember that we are not necessarily looking for the whole condo itself to be designed, just a showroom of your ideas so that James can select a designer. See past winners and the tips noted below to help you create wow photos to catch James' attention.

Submit THREE photos to this thread, and to the Triple Take Photo Gallery HERE

Find tips HERE  and general rules HERE

Deadline - Saturday August 25th

Great entries everyone
You guys are really doing a wonderful job. :D

And just like Mythago, its been a while since I last participated in a Triple Take.
Thought I should give this one a try. Not used to such a dark palete but I did enjoy working with it. ;)

Was hoping for something better, but I came in late.
Here is my entry:

Hope you guys like it

Awesome submissions everyone. I'll give a little feedback to everyone with some general feedback at the end for everyone.  I'll work on getting another assignment up for September.

Secimama

You definitely have the right idea with the modern, open concept. LOVE the brick walls and wood floors for that renovated warehouse feel that is so popular in cities. James will love the space for entertaining and the great views.

Cera

My attention goes to the unique items you used to create a very modern and artsy space - the modern art is the focal point here for sure, fitting right in to James' tastes.

Linday

Gorgeous space with many incredible features including the open kitchen concept and modern but cozy feel.   I have to make note of the great photo composition, especially for the first and third photo.

Mythago

The first thing that caught my eye was the sofa/chair set. I LOVE this furniture! James will love it! You've created a modern, industrial chic feel to this space and a spacious entertainment space. The expansive wine storage will be much appreciated.

Lightside

Breathtaking double-high ceiling to floor windows creates a view to die for. The open concept is once again a strong point here. Modern and warm - a great combination accomplished using the classy red wood along with the dark tones. Wonderful photo composition also.

OVERALL

As with everything I do in Sims I am aiming to encourage creativity, learning and FUN above all else. I don't like to put too much pressure on people's creativity and I also don't want to rain on anyone's parade. This is why I hate giving criticism feedback.

Triple Take has two purposes really. One, to encourage exploration of different styles as many of us like to take on something to challenge and inspire us. and Two, to inspire magazine quality photography and staged interior design layouts which can help you when showcasing your builds, when entering other competitions and in some cases to potentially win you a guest position as an interior designer in SF Magazine's newly expanded interiors section.

With this in mind, here are some notes for magazine quality photos (also noted in the tips page linked at the start of all assignments)

  • Think of the photograph as a demonstration of the style you are showcasing and stage the space accordingly. You do not need to have the space layed out as a real liveable room, but rather arrange the items for the best photographic effect.
  • Google interior design images for ideas of photo layouts
  • Use invisible lighting (testing cheats enabled, buydebug) and ingame lighting functions to change intensity and colour in order to capture the best photos. Don't let the best features be lost in the dark.
  • be creative with camera angles

CONGRATULATIONS to LIGHTSIDE

for winning the contract to redecorate James' loft condo
